Where do the cases come from?

Court decisions are sourced from the Open Australian Legal Corpus (CC-BY-4.0, Isaacus / Umar Butler). Search results link to the original decisions on AustLII, the Australasian Legal Information Institute.

LegalHub is built on open data. The Open Australian Legal Corpus is maintained by Isaacus and released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. We believe legal information should be accessible to everyone, not locked behind paywalls.

Data source attribution

Court decisions are sourced from the following public databases, reproduced in accordance with their respective terms:

  • Federal Court of Australia — decisions reproduced with acknowledgment as decisions of the Court, sourced via AustLII
  • High Court of Australia — decisions reproduced for personal, non-commercial use only, in accordance with the High Court's copyright terms
  • Queensland courts — decisions sourced via Queensland Courts and AustLII (CC-BY-4.0 where applicable)
  • NSW courts — decisions sourced via NSW Caselaw (reproduced accurately and in context)
  • Victorian courts — decisions sourced via AustLII
  • Other state and territory courts — decisions sourced via AustLII under respective terms
  • Federal and state legislation — sourced under CC-BY-4.0 with attribution to the Federal Register of Legislation and respective state repositories

All search results link to the original decision on AustLII for verification. LegalHub does not modify the text of court decisions.
