IMPORTANT: NOT LEGAL ADVICE

LegalHub provides general legal information only. Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice. No solicitor-client relationship is created by your use of this service. You should obtain independent legal advice from a qualified legal practitioner before acting on any information found on this site.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using LegalHub (legalhub.au), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and the operator of LegalHub.

2. Description of service

LegalHub provides:

  • Legal information search — a tool that searches publicly available Australian court judgments and presents results relevant to your query.
  • Community experience sharing — a platform where registered users may share their personal experiences with legal processes and learn from the experiences of others.

The service is operated by a sole trader in Queensland, Australia.

3. Not legal advice

LegalHub does not provide legal advice. All information presented on this site, including search results, case summaries, and community contributions, is general information only. It is not tailored to your individual circumstances.

No solicitor-client or adviser-client relationship is created between you and LegalHub, its operator, or any contributor. Community experiences represent personal opinions and are not verified legal guidance.

You must seek independent legal advice from a qualified legal practitioner before making any decisions or taking any action based on information obtained through this service.

  • Maintain the security of your account credentials.
  • Notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. Each person may hold only one account.

5. User-generated content

When you contribute content to LegalHub (including experience reports, comments, and other submissions), you:

  • Retain ownership of your original content.
  • Grant LegalHub a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence to display, reproduce, and distribute your content on the platform for the purpose of operating the service.
  • Warrant that your content is your own original work or that you have the right to submit it.
  • Warrant that your content does not contain material that is defamatory, unlawful, threatening, abusive, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Warrant that your content does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • Acknowledge that your content may be displayed publicly under your chosen display name.

You may request removal of your contributed content by contacting support@legalhub.au.

6. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Submit false, misleading, or fabricated content.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other accounts, or underlying systems.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the service beyond normal use.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the service.
  • Publish content that identifies parties to legal proceedings where suppression orders or non-publication orders are in effect.
  • Submit content that purports to be legal advice.

7. Intellectual property

Open Australian Legal Corpus data — case law data sourced from the Open Australian Legal Corpus is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0) licence. Attribution is provided to the original sources via AustLII.

User contributions — all user-generated content remains the intellectual property of the respective contributors, subject to the licence granted in Section 5.

8. Content moderation

LegalHub reserves the right to review, edit, quarantine, or remove any user-generated content at its sole discretion, including content that:

  • Violates these terms or applicable law.
  • Is flagged by other users or automated moderation systems.
  • Is identified as potentially defamatory, misleading, or harmful.

Content placed in quarantine will not be visible to other users pending review. We are not obliged to provide reasons for moderation decisions, but will endeavour to notify affected users where practicable.

8A. Suppression orders and content removal

Court decisions displayed in search results are sourced from publicly available databases. If you believe any content on LegalHub is subject to a suppression order, non-publication order, or is otherwise unlawful, please submit a report immediately via our Report Content page or email report@legalhub.au.

We will review all reports within 7 days. Content identified as subject to a suppression order or as potentially defamatory will be removed or quarantined pending resolution, in accordance with the Defamation Act 2005 (Qld) s 31A.

9. Credit system

LegalHub operates a credit system to reward community contributions. Credits are subject to the following conditions:

  • Credits have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for money.
  • Credits are non-transferable between accounts.
  • Credits may be used only within the LegalHub platform for the purposes designated by the service.
  • LegalHub reserves the right to modify the credit system, including credit values and earning mechanisms, with reasonable notice. Changes apply prospectively and do not affect credits already earned.
  • Credits may be forfeited if your account is terminated for breach of these terms.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LegalHub and its operator exclude all liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service, including but not limited to:

  • Any inaccuracy, incompleteness, or error in information presented.
  • Any decision or action taken based on information obtained through the service.
  • Loss of data, revenue, or opportunity.
  • Interruptions, delays, or failures in the service.

Australian Consumer Law notice: Certain consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee or any right or remedy you may have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.

Where liability cannot be excluded, the total liability of LegalHub is limited to the amount paid by you (if any) for the service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LegalHub and its operator from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • Content you submit to the service.
  • Your breach of these terms.
  • Your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

12. Termination

LegalHub reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account with reasonable notice if we reasonably believe that you have breached these terms. In cases of serious breach (including unlawful conduct or repeated violations), suspension or termination may be immediate.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support@legalhub.au. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Content you have contributed may remain on the platform under the licence granted in Section 5, unless you request its removal.

13. Changes to terms

We may modify these Terms of Use from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will provide at least 14 days' notice via the website and, where you have registered an account, by email. Your continued use of the service after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland and any courts entitled to hear appeals therefrom.

15. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, it will be severed from these terms.

16. Entire agreement

These Terms of Use, together with the Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and LegalHub in relation to your use of the service. They supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
