Our commitment
LegalHub is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, as referenced by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).
Legal information should be accessible to everyone. We design and build with accessibility as a core requirement, not an afterthought.
What we do
LegalHub implements the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML — proper heading hierarchy, landmarks (nav, main, footer), and ARIA attributes throughout
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are operable via keyboard, including the mobile menu and search
- Skip navigation — a skip-to-content link is available for screen reader and keyboard users
- Focus indicators — visible focus outlines on all interactive elements for keyboard users
- Colour contrast — text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios
- Reduced motion — animations are disabled when the user's system prefers reduced motion
- Touch targets — interactive elements meet the minimum 44x44 pixel touch target size
- Dark mode — automatic dark theme for users who prefer it (prefers-color-scheme)
- High contrast — enhanced contrast mode support (prefers-contrast: high)
- Text resizing — content reflows correctly when text is resized up to 200%
- Print styles — pages are formatted for printing with readable layouts
- External link indicators — links that open in a new window are marked with an arrow indicator
- Form labels — all form inputs have associated labels or ARIA labels
- Breadcrumb navigation — consistent breadcrumbs on all pages for orientation
Known limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility may be limited:
- Some older community contributions may not have been fully reviewed for accessibility of content
- Third-party content linked from search results (e.g. AustLII) is outside our control
We are continuously working to identify and resolve accessibility issues.

Standards
This website targets conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and are the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.
In Australia, the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) makes it unlawful to discriminate against a person with a disability in the provision of goods, services, or facilities. The Australian Human Rights Commission references WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the benchmark for web accessibility compliance.
